Psychophysiological Interventions
Most people today are facing multiple internal and external stressors. Effective stress management is an important part of any treatment program, and the Mind-Body connection is at the core of the RBH clinical treatment philosophy.
It is critical in solving cognitive, emotional, and behavioral difficulties to get the mind and body in sync in the regulation of calm, relaxed state of well-being that allows for creative thinking and problem solving. A healthy brain and mind state = a healthy body, and visa versa.
Recognizing the importance of this bidirectional relationship, RBH seeks to assist patients in developing healthy psychophysiological functioning so they can reach their full potential.
RBH also believes that It is important in working with the brain, to address the degree of sympathetic nervous system arousal in the body. Sympathetic nervous system dominance is the state in which the central nervous system is stuck in over arousal, commonly referred to as the “fight, flight, or freeze” stress response. Psychologically this chronic state of stress has a negative effect on the brain and body’s physiological functioning.
RBH offers and number of psychophysiological tools to improve the self-regulation of the patient’s psychophysiology. These include:
- Heart Rate Variability Training
- Biomat Infrared Relaxation Training
- Mindfulness Training
- Progressive Muscle Relaxation Training
- Brain Healthy Lifestyle Recommendations
